About aperte.org
Many people have asked me what aperte is all about. Well, I needed a name for my email and my web site and I wanted it to be short, somewhat obscure, yet still meaningful. Aperte comes from Latin and means “open”, which describes my philosophy surrounding knowledge and knowledge creation. My beliefs around openness of knowledge were formed mainly by my fascination with free/libre open source software as a movement and the general trends toward openness that the movement created.
I use the Wordpress platform for my site with a theme I designed based on Hemingway Reloaded. I use the Lightbox plugin for Wordpress for viewing images inside blog posts.
