Snowing in Seattle!
The most precious thing about today was walking home from work in a beautiful flurry of heavy snow. I haven’t seen snow in the city since I left Edmonton last year.
It was a pretty funny day, actually. I walked into my office building and realized that I had forgotten my office access card (which never happens) and had to get a temporary one, then I sat down in my office and realized that I had forgotten my glasses (so I squinted at the screen all day), then I powered up my Linux laptop and found that it was seriously busted. In the end it was just a DNS problem that I handled less than gracefully, but it was still funny. It was a sign that I shouldn’t have been working today. (Update: I just got paged and had to call a teammate because my laptop wouldn’t start up. Arg!)
When I got home, I dug out my bottle of 2001 Mission Hill Oculus that my buddy Murray gave me (the best vintage yet). The Mission Hill Oculus is a lovely Bordeaux blend with flavours of smokey currants. It’s the best BC wine I’ve had. Thanks murman.
For those of you who read until the end, here’s a picture of my twin brother and I with my Mom exactly 24 years ago (thanks Dad).
