Finally, a weekend without work

This has been the first weekend in a long, long time that I haven’t been working. That sounds pathetic and it is. I cheated on Sunday night to catch up on emails and see what my Monday is going to look like (it’s looking grim), but other than that it was a totally work-free weekend. Yay.

My prized acquisition of the weekend is this sweet new Superman lunch box that my Mom bought for me (thanks, Mom!):

I’m going to fill it with Halloween candy and prance off to work with it in hand tomorrow morning (looking rather like an English school boy), all while listening to Belle and Sebastian on my iPod. The picture of this in my mind couldn’t be more superb.

We went out to Snoqualmie Falls and stopped at this crazy little diner for lunch in “downtown” Snoqualmie. I murdered a *huge* bacon cheeseburger (half a cow, at least) and what amounted to probably a litre of ice cream in the format of a delicious chocolate shake. I won’t lie to you: it was fantastic. I just have a few more training sessions to go before I can truly eat like an American.

We stopped by the town book store, which displayed the literary delights of Stephen King as “Author of the Month” on the table outside:

I thought it was so fabulous that I had to take a picture of it. Forget the Booker; Author of the Month at the Snoqualmie book store is the prize to go after.

It poured rain all day and we got soaked, but the falls were really quite lovely:

There’s a hotel and spa right next to the falls. I think it would be fantastic to get a room overlooking the falls and pamper oneself at the spa over a weekend. Not that I’m much of a spa person… but I could get used to it. Anyone want to join me?
