No Pleasure Hacking
I haven’t had much opportunity lately for interesting hacking. My current problem is that I’m tightly restricted on what I can and can’t work on in public, which means that I’ve been doing very little coding for pleasure lately.
Eclipse-RPM and Eclipse-OProfile are all but dead (actually, they are currently very dead), so I’m not sure I even want to involve myself with the projects anymore. Nobody has written any code for them in months. That being said, I do feel compelled to attempt resuscitation. I just have such limited time to spend on public stuff that I feel I should work on something more sexy.
Sometimes I wish I could spend near-100 percent of my time working on public projects that I love. I seem to have some kind of business drive though that needs to be satisfied in order for me to be happy. The solution? I should clearly start my own open source software company. How it would make money is yet to be determined.
