Vodka Samplings + Painting

It was a productive weekend. It was a bit boozy too, but I managed to drag my poor little vodka-pickled body out of bed today to work on my new bathroom and to go furniture shopping.

I also bought a couch today. I'm pretty excited about it. It is sufficiently modern for my tastes, but it also looks a bit 30s-loungy. I picked up the floor model so it will be delivered to me next weekend! yay! It is quite luxurious and comfortable and it will look lovely next to my vintage Jetsons chair. I will post photos when it is resting in its new home.

Last night a few Canadians (and one lonely American) gathered up in Magnolia for a martini party. We sampled 5 different kinds of vodka (and some gin?). I haven't had a lot of hard liquor lately and I haven't had a straight-up martini in ages, so I was kind of a lightweight last night. My favourite vodka came in a pretty blue glass bottle with a corked top; it was so smooth that it was like drinking 'vodka water'. It was delicious. Unfortunately, I don't remember the name of it. Perhaps I will inquire.

My new bathroom is coming along nicely. I replaced all the old 'soft yellow' lightbulbs in there with the fancy new ones that filter out ugly yellow light. That in itself was a huge improvement, but the new baseboards and bright new blue paint on the walls also make it look a lot brighter. It wasn't too bad before, but I think the new paint and stuff will make it feel much more finished. Maybe I will post some photos of that too when it's done.
